Youth Media and Education

A true Renaissance artist focused on empowering the unheard voices of our communties, Kymbali has combined performance art, conflict resolution and mediation training, and film/video production experience to create Urban Mindz Youth Media, a program that provides youth the access, skills and resources to create their own media thru media arts workshops.

For many years, she has brought the arena of hip-hop theater into the New York City and New Jersey school systems by using sound, word, movement and emotion. Kymbali transforms the lives of young people by tapping into the awarenesses of their world, and has them create moments, happenings, experiences. Performances, productions, plays, films... youngsters begin finding their own voices and rising above their own fears, renovating themselves from teenagers into solid artists, activists, entertainers. Other kids who watch these performances want to stand up and speak their truth, show their power, create their own change.
